The Billet and your holiday hosts
The Billet is a luxurious 5 star wide-beam canal boat that will provide you with a superb boating holiday on the canals and rivers of Southern England.
It is a new build widebeam canal boat, or barge, and not a standard narrowboat. Being 12 feet wide and 67 feet long, the Billet offers a quality and comfort that will ensure a memorable and relaxing holiday.
Built by traditionally trained craftsmen using advanced design technology and manufacturing techniques, together with the finest materials. It has one of the most luxurious designs and fit outs on the canal network.
The Stradbally bedroom has a double bed and the Torridon room has twin beds. In addition, each room has its own en-suite shower room with shower cubicles as opposed to a wet room arrangement.
We have equipped the rooms with their own tea and coffee facilities. Fresh milk is provided every day in thermos jugs, plus mineral water and chocolates. The beds have quality Egyptian cotton sheets and quilts. We also provide towels, a hair dryer, cabin slippers and dressing gowns. There are ample 240 volt sockets for your own appliances, phone chargers etc. plus dressing table and storage cupboards. Also each en-suite shower room has a shower, luxury eco-friendly toiletries, flush toilets and a hand basin. There is also a heated mirror, extractor fan and shaver / toothbrush charging point.
The spacious saloon and informal dining area, which is dedicated to guests, is panelled in light oak, with oak cupboards and shelves. This light and airy room has four large windows and doors out to the bow deck. The soft furnishings include a large comfortable settee and two wing back chairs along with table and reading lamps. We have a comprehensive entertainment system, satellite TV, Guest iPad, Guest HomePod, Radio, and WiFi. Also we have a selection of books and magazines. Dining is informal and no dress code applies other than the usual smart/casual look.
A feature unique to The Billet, amongst Canal Hotel Boats offering barge holidays, is the rear outdoor seating and dining area of the stern deck. Many guests find this social area the focal point of their day’s activities. Here there is comfortable seating for six to eight people around a hand-made panelled table which is available all day long. Join the skipper as he steers the boat using a hydraulic steering wheel, as opposed to a traditional tiller, from the side of the stern deck. Additionally, for comfort and safety, the stern deck has no open sides. With lockable waist high tow path access doors, it ensures a safe and steady environment for all ages. We provide the latest in Self inflating slim line buoyancy aids (life jackets) for all guests.
